Future Health OS
My daughter Akira is 6. I often wonder what healthcare will look like when she's an adult. Predicting the future is almost always wrong, but is fun nonetheless. So, let's do it.
Let's assume a few things: AI doubles in capability every couple of years. Robots become more capable, specialized, and affordable. Health trackers are smaller, come in diverse form factors, and real-time.
Akira is woken up in the morning at the perfect time, based on her sleep cycles in her embedded biosensor. Her phone (?) recommends a quick stretch or movement based on her recovery status to increase her energy levels and monitors the impact. As she heads down, her robot chef has already prepared her breakfast based on her nutrition requirements, health goals, and her schedule for the day. She eats and heads out.
Throughout the day, sensors monitor her movement, stress, blood sugar and hydration levels, and provide gentle nudges to take a quick walk, do a two-minute meditation, or sip water, when there is a gap in her schedule. A robotic cloud kitchen prepares her lunch, based on what she likes, what she has eaten recently, and what her nutrition needs are, and this is delivered to her via drones at the right time. Her environment automatically adjusts, changing lights or playing sounds to help her focus, when she needs to work.
Her robo-car takes her to her favorite workout class in the evening based on how much activity her body needs and what muscles need to be exercised that day. After her workout, she heads home to a meal prepared by her robot chef that helps complete all her macro and micronutrients for the day. As she heads to bed, the environment changes into wind-down mode to facilitate restful sleep.
The biomarkers track signs of her not feeling well early and start to tweak her routine, suggest medicines she should take, and proactively schedule appointments with her personal physician.
This Health Operating System is predictive, proactive, and focused on prevention. It is almost invisible and unobtrusive. It is omniscient yet extremely private. Your data is locked in a quantum-encrypted vault, accessible only with your consent. All devices are connected to the OS and only get access to what they need. You are always in charge - you can change the defaults and make different choices (e.g. go out for dinner with friends). The system adapts in real-time and is always in your service.
My goal is to make Hobbes Akira's Health OS. A future where technology is a supporting partner that not only prolongs life but enhances its quality.
I only have 12 years to get there. I'd better hurry.
What do you think about this future?
